The ChildTechLab Ecosystem – Shaping the Future of Childhood with Ethics and Algorithms

ChildTechLab is not merely a project or program – it is a pedagogical-technological ecosystem designed to responsibly and ethically integrate artificial intelligence into early childhood education. The question is no longer if AI will enter preschools, but how – and who will shape that integration: commercial interests or communities who advocate for the well-being of children?

The ChildTechLab ecosystem addresses this through five core modules:🔍 M.I.N.D. – Monitoring developmental and pedagogical impacts🛡️ E.T.I.K.A. – Ethical and child rights frameworks🎲 P.L.A.Y. – Play-based innovation in AI-enhanced environments🪞 R.E.A.L. – Reflective training and educator support🧰 S.A.F.E. – Certification and responsible use of AI tools

At the heart of the system lies the CHILDTECH RADAR, a dedicated foresight and watch module that curates the latest international and local developments – from new technologies and research to policies and events. It helps us anticipate trends, respond intelligently, and stay informed – not reactively, but proactively.

A preschool teacher and a young child are playing together using an AI-powered educational toy in a colorful and welcoming classroom. The image visually expresses the core values of the ChildTechLab ecosystem: child-centeredness, human connection, and technological innovation.

ChildTechLab believes that AI should not replace human connection, but rather enhance pedagogical presence and insight. This requires structured thinking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and ethical commitment — which is exactly what this ecosystem stands for.The preschool of the future is not digital or analog — it is smart, sensitive, and child-centered.
